M30272M - Overhauling the roof

Brian White removing one of the roof hoopsBrian white gets to grips with one of the roof hoops. All the hoops had to be removed up to the half way point of the coach. This had to be done so that the side framework of the coach could be removed to enable the bottom side of the coach to be replaced. Note how the coach has been braced so that it is not possible for the framework to move.

The pile of roof hoops awaiting restorationThe final picture shows the 'pile' of roof hoops after the sheet metal had been cut away. These all require refurbishment, especially to the 'feet' before they are returned to the coach.

All, bar one, of the roof hoops that have been removed from the coach have now been repaired and painted. The picture on the left shows just three of the fourteen hoops after they have been painted.
