14th October 2004During the October work week Pete Silver returned from Didcot to repair the non apparatus end of the coach. The main repair that was required was to install a new section of bottomside. The picture shows the affected area with the bottomside removed and the chassis having been painted. Notice the missing corner post and half uprights. |
On the same day the block of wood for the toilet floor is seen after the hole has been cut away. |
15th October 2004One day later and the section of flooring is in place, just waiting for the fitting of the toilet (which will not happen for a while - we need to put the walls up first! |
16th October 2004By the end of the week the new section of bottomside was in place and all the uprights and corner piece were back in place. |
31st December 2004The floor at the apparatus end of the coach has now been laid, apart from a few sections on the right (which will allow us access to the bottomside). So far some 650 screws have been used to secure the flooring down. |
Apologies for the poor picture, but lighting at Wansford was very poor today. More of the original flooring has been removed from the non-apparatus end of the coach; this will enable the chassis to be renovated before the new flooring is installed. |
