M30272M - Stripping the Interior - The Toilet

The toilet area of a coach is not one that readily springs to mind, indeed it is one of the last places that you would think of! Yet it provides one of the most basic functions of everyday life.

TPO toilet areaThe upper part of the toilet area showing how the vehicle had deteriorated since being preserved in 1974. Note the roll of toilet tissue, which must also come from the same period - some 21 years old!
TPO toilet areaA picture from lower down showing the bars across the window which had been added after the Great Train Robbery in 1963. These bars will not be restored during the restoration.
TPO toilet areaA view showing the wash basin, top right. Note that the toilet bowl is hidden beneath the pile of wood on the left.
TPO toilet areaA view looking straight at the wash basin which clearly shows the poor state that the facility had fallen into.

This is the condition in which the toilet area arrived at Wansford. It even included a bar of soap that must have been there since the vehicle was preserved in 1974!
