Since most TPOs ran at night and were rarely seen by the general public, it is not surprising to discover that only a few TPOs have been preserved. To date only one Great Western TPO, three Southern TPOs, four of London Midland & Scottish decent, two London & North Eastern TPOs, one replica and (at present) six British Railway TPOs have been preserved. The following list details each of them along with pictures where possible and a link for each coach to the HRA Carriage Survey.
There are also a few TPOs preserved outside of England and these are listed where known.
A list of preserved lineside apparatus is also shown at the end of this page.

Preserved Lineside Apparatus Equipment
The lineside apparatus, which was last used on the British main line in October 1971 has been preserved at a few locations around the country. The following links provide pictures and information on those that are known to survive. If anyone knows the original locations of any of the lineside equipment detailed below, the TPO group would like to hear from you.
The lineside apparatus at the Nene Valley Railway
The lineside apparatus at the Didcot Railway Centre
The lineside apparatus at the Great Central Railway
The lineside apparatus at the National Railway Museum
The lineside apparatus at the Winchcombe Railway Museum (To be developed)
It has also been rumoured that there was a set of apparatus equipment at the Post Office Museum in London, but this has not been traced. The Midland Railway Centre may also have a set of apparatus equipment in store for use with their LMS TPO. If anyone can provide additional information on any of the apparatus equipment listed, or of any other apparatus equipment that may still exist then please email webmaster@tpo.org.uk
