The
various handles removed from 814 were given their top
coat of paint.
Well we
have started back today and got straight on with the
roof, and found it to be in good condition.
With very
little remedial work required all that was needed was to
give it a good clean in the morning, with some touch up
of bare metal using red oxide and then paint it in the
afternoon.

Pete continues with the
undercoating of the apparatus side of the coach. This
view shows the brake area of the coach.
Frank on the other hand has been let loose
on the other side of the coach, which is normally
referred to as the non apparatus side; yet this does seem
rather inappropriate
given that this side also has an apparatus area!
Another
closer view of Frank with his trusty paintbrush.
Paul has made a start on the ceiling, which
has been cleaned and sanded down and given an undercoat.
The present work being undertaken is to give it a coat of
white gloss, which makes a vast area of white paint
and is starting to drive Paul mad.

Frank
fixing new galvanised beading which has been pre drilled
before being attached to the coach.
Paul sanding down the walls prior to
painting; notice the ceiling and steam heat pipe has been
finished.
Nigel
rubbing down with wet & dry to obtain the smooth
finish required for final painting, he gets to do the
high parts as he is taller than the rest of the group.
Pete Silver rubbing down the bodywork, while
"Big Pete" provides vocal support in the
background.
